Royal Australian Mint: Origins of Australian Coin $1 Holey Dollar 2026

The Royal Australian Mint marks 60 years of Australia–Mexico diplomatic relations with a $1 coin celebrating the Origins of Australian Coin. Designed by Elyssa Waterford, the reverse replicates elements of the 1804/1813 Holey Dollar held in the National Coin Collection — ribbons, flowers and leaves frame the coin, with dahlias for Mexico and wattle for Australia and a replicated 1813 dump coin below the centre hole. The obverse carries the Commonwealth effigy of HM King Charles III by Dan Thorne. Copper-nickel BU, 12.58 g, 30 mm, maximum mintage 35,000, each encapsulated in a presentation folder with the history of the Holey Dollar and Dump. Royal Australian Mint.
